Tata Motors is leading the electric vehicle market in India and has recently introduced the Nexon EV Facelift, which showcases significant advancements in various aspects such as equipment and powertrain. The company’s next venture is the Punch EV, an electric version of their popular model that has been in development for quite some time. By closely observing the test prototype of this upcoming vehicle on public roads, we have gathered significant and valuable information. Through multiple sightings and the latest spy shots, we can delve into the details and uncover more about its features, design, and overall capabilities.
Tata Punch EV: What Do the Latest Spy Shots Reveal?
Despite maintaining the design of its conventional fuel-powered counterpart, the Punch EV will undergo significant modifications to support its environmentally friendly image. Recent spy shots reveal a clear view of the electric car’s side and rear profile, as well as an updated front fascia. Although the vehicle is heavily camouflaged, we can observe notable changes in the front design, suggesting that it will be a focal point in the electric version of the Punch model.
The upcoming model will feature some notable changes to its front exterior. These include redesigned LED headlamps, a modified housing, an updated grille that is specific to electric vehicles (EVs), and a stylish LED light bar running across the width of the vehicle. The overall design of the front profile takes cues from the Nexon EV Facelift, aligning with the brand’s latest design language. In terms of design updates, the Punch EV is expected to receive new alloy wheels and rear wheel disc brakes. This has already been seen in previous spy images. The rear profile of the vehicle is anticipated to remain largely unchanged, although there may be an addition of a connected LED light bar. These design changes could also potentially be incorporated into the ICE Punch model, particularly with the facelift version.
In terms of interior updates, the upcoming Punch EV is set to receive some exciting changes. This includes a new 10. 25-inch infotainment system, Tata’s modern two-spoke steering wheel featuring a backlit logo and stylish blue accents throughout. Moving to its power source, it is anticipated that the Punch EV will utilize a battery pack with approximately 30 kWh capacity, providing an impressive range of up to 350 kilometers on a single charge. Additionally, similar to other electric vehicles in Tata’s lineup, there may be different range options available at the time of launch.
Assuming everything goes as planned, we can expect the Tata Punch EV to make its debut by the end of 2023. Shortly after, it will be available in the market for purchase. In terms of pricing, it is anticipated that the starting price for this electric vehicle will be around Rs. 12 lakh (ex-showroom), which is considerably lower than the Nexon EV.
